Our involvement started as a simple contribution for a beautiful cause. The Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving was the charitable recipient at this year’s First Lady’s Luncheon hosted by the Congressional Club.<\/p>\n

American Grown Flowers<\/b><\/a> and David Beahm Experiences<\/b><\/a> were teaming up to provide floral designs for the luncheon, and Accent Decor had the honor of contributing floral vases (the Desiray Collection<\/a> <\/b>and Baleri Compote<\/a> <\/b>to be exact) for the finishing touch to those beautiful, American grown blooms designed by Andrea Gagnon of LynnVale Studios<\/b><\/a>. Delaware Valley, Smithers Oasis, and Transflora also contributed goods and services.<\/p>\n

With the the luncheon’s theme emphasizing Georgia culture and businesses, it meant a lot for Margaret Hofland, co-founder and Art Director of Accent Decor, to attend.<\/p>\n

\u00a0“As a new American citizen, it was enlightening to see the interworking of the political environment,” Margaret said. “It was such a wonderful, non-partisan experience, and it\u00a0was an honor to see people from all sides interacting with each other, doing their best for their spouses, their children, and most of all, for their great love of this country.”<\/p>\n

After all, that’s how the Congressional Club was formed. Founded in 1908, the purpose of the club was to provide a non-partisan setting for friendships among the spouses of members of the House and Senate in Washington D.C.<\/p>\n

Margaret’s favorite part of the luncheon was Michelle Obama’s speech on the importance of supporting your spouse.<\/p>\n

“It was about how connecting with each other and your family results in making a better country,” Margaret said. “It was inspiring and personal. She was so easy to relate to.”<\/p>\n
