Each season we introduce hundreds of new flower, plant and home wholesale decor products, requiring a team of creative masterminds to delve into a fast-paced cycle of concepting photoshoots. Enter Accent Decor’s Photography Team who work year-round on product and lifestyle shoots. From constructing custom sets, to building rapport with floral and plant pros to diligently managing post-production, the team is abuzz with work…all while making it look easy!

The newest plant collection blends trendy style with functional plant care, an ideal combination for plant parents who extend plant dedication into their everyday life. Pots with saucers, hanging planters, planting accessories and trendy home accents round out the new assortment. Landing a shoot concept to help plant enthusiasts connect with the latest offerings was paramount.

“Beyond presenting our amazing products in a beautiful way we really want to inspire our customers with product use and style!” explains Patrick Kolts, Photography Manager. “We aim to create content that helps style a home, a store or a specific Accent Decor vessel.”

The team drew inspiration from our base of trend-forward plant shop customers. “Typically, plant shops are these cool and quirky destinations. Our goal was to recreate that aesthetic,” explained Guillaume Duvernois, Art Director. “In plant shops, you’ll likely spot curated shelves and displays stacked with pots and plants or corners pouring with products for customers to easily grab. The cash wraps are a shop anchor, often just as cool. We challenged ourselves to build a custom shop in our studio so customers could envision our newest plant products within their location.” Once the concept was landed, Guillaume created renderings to illustrate set build-out and styling direction.

“In the past, we’ve shot in actual plant shops which was a great experience,” shared Julie Peet, Studio Operations Specialist. “This season, we wanted to achieve that same level of context and realism within the studio which allowed for greater set control to highlight the products.”

Over five weeks, from initial concept to set build-out, the 1200 square foot photo studio transformed into a funky, custom plant shop. Razor-sharp details perfected every set. “We tried to think of every detail, big and small, to nail the perfect shots,” explained Peet. “Every prop and product were intentionally selected. Five samples of pink paint were tested to find the right wall color. Different book combinations were considered until we had the right color stack. Our showroom artists were recruited to assist with hand painting meticulous patterns. The shelves were thoughtfully merchandised flanked with wall accents. I created 30 fancy potting soil bags as props – no detail was overlooked.”

The result? The team successfully created a transformative environment and landed hundreds of final shots. Sneaking their way into shots were HR Generalist, Hunter Smith, who posed as a plant shop employee and Accent Decor pups, Oliver and Basil, delighting proud doggie parents Julie Peet and Becky Hillis, Creative Director.

“Shoots are a team effort at Accent Decor. We love being a part of the business that’s so customer-facing,” said Koltz. “We hope they feel the love we poured in.”
