On April 17, over 1400 attendees from across the United States descended upon Washington DC to attend the 111th annual First Lady’s Luncheon, a bi-partisan event hosted by the Congressional Club, honoring the First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden. The luncheon offers an opportunity for the organization to connect with congressional spouses, and others, all while assisting in raising funds for national non-profit organizations, identified and supported by the First Lady and members of The Congressional Club. This year’s featured recipients included The Live Your Dream Foundation and Soroptimist.

This year’s floral installation team was led by New Jersey-based Jennifer Reed, Owner and Designer of Jennifer Designs. Together with American Grown Flowers and team of 19 volunteers, these creative powerhouses teamed up to provide floral designs for the luncheon. Together the team dutifully worked over 30 hours, plus many prep days in advance, to transform the Washington Hilton ballroom into an immersive floral oasis complete with touches of Americana.  Accent Decor had the honor of providing floral vases and statement arched decor for the finishing touches.

Within the ballroom, there were two noteworthy designs created by Jennifer Reed placed on the many event tables.

“It was an unforgettable afternoon,” shared Katie Dunn, Marketing Coordinator at Accent Decor, who attended the luncheon. “Having Dr. Jill Biden and the Second Gentleman, Doug Emhoff, in the same room was incredibly exciting. What made it even more special was seeing the entire room enveloped in Accent Decor – it felt as if very surface was flanked with our products.”

“All eyes were on the main stage which featured 12 Oakley Saucers containing beautiful arrangements. Our Arpeggio Stand and Soprano Archway served as official photo backdrops. I was honored to attend while representing Accent Decor and loved engaging with wonderful florists and growers from across the country.”
