“Jewel Box Interiors” & Home Accents with Evan Millard

Meet Evan Millard, Founder & Principal Designer at Millárd

Instilled with a love for creativity from an early age, Evan Millard pursued studies in Graphic Design at Oral Roberts University. Evan went on to receive his BFA in Interior Design at O’More College of Architecture and Design of Belmont University located in Music City, Nashville, TN.

With luxury residential and commercial design experience in Nashville and Chicago, Evan returned to Music City in 2017 to form Modern Remains with two friends. While part of this dynamic design trio, Evan worked with clients across the country, creating environments reflecting his clients & their zeal for life.

Over a decade later, coupling his love for clients and color, Evan debuted his solo career, focusing on creating jewel-box-like experiences that bring joy and excitement to his clients’ lives. Evan was recently tapped as a featured designer in Bergdorf Goodman’s Art & Design Exhibit celebrating designers, artists, artisans and makers from all corners of the globe uniting their work in the iconic halls of Bergdorf Goodman.

We love your focus on creating spaces that wrap you in emotion and feel like a jewel box – how beautiful! Can you share more about your design approach? How do you strive to create emotive spaces?

When dreaming up the initial design concept, I start by asking my clients if they have a piece in their home that makes them smile. This might be a family heirloom or piece of art. An item like this is typically the jumping off point for inspiration and color palette. At the end of the day, my goal is for my clients to walk into their home and smile.

When sourcing decorative home accents, what are some must-have traits or features that you look for?

Simple forms, classic details, and pieces that are artistic and sculptural in shape. I love pieces that complement the branches or florals being held.

What Accent Decor home accents do you have your eye on as you work through your 2024 projects?

When layering pieces in my designs, I often gravitate towards those that are simplistic in form with classic details. The chinoiserie vases in the Elodie Collection and the neutral and textured Proton Pot are a couple of recently launched products I look forward to using soon!
