We caught up with Ian to discuss his collaboration with the Accent Decor team and his take on the Mondrian.

Tell us about the Mondrian’s concept and origin story.
I felt the wedding and event industry could use a candle wall behind a marriage site, which is the Mondrian Collection’s origin. Some models are available within the market; however, they aren’t tailored to the floral industry – enhancing the design with florals is near impossible. I started sketching different concepts and presented them to Accent Decor’s Product Development Team and, together, we partnered on creating this special collection. Beyond its beauty, it needed to be transportation friendly. The candle brackets needed to be detachable allowing for ease of transport and utilizing the stand in different ways.  Landing the final design was swift since there was cohesion between all parties. We were excited to create a product for floral pros that was both innovative and beautifully executed.

What need does the Mondrian fill?  
The Mondrian’s ultimate feature and benefit is its versatility. The stand can be utilized in countless locations including a ceremony’s alter area, cake table, band stage, escort wall or as a screen to create separation between two areas. The weight and sturdiness of the design makes it easy to use inside or outside. The attachments have a diameter that could easily hold candles or small budvases allowing for the creation of a flower wall.  Since the attachments can be purchased separately you can decide how many are used. 

How are you hoping to utilize the Mondrian in upcoming weddings or events?
Before wedding season, I featured the Mondrian during an AIFD presentation paired with additional Accent Decor products. My vision was to showcase the stand in its origin. We’ll utilized three stands to create a wall behind an altar with the Gothic Arch placed in front. This helped create a layered and dimensional design. It was completed with woven greenery through the candles along with cascading florals.

You’ve worked with a variety of large Accent Decor stands in your weddings and events. What event decor set-up and tear pro-tips do you have that floral designers should know?
Working with large scale stands that are easy to assemble and disassemble is paramount. The Mondrian Stand is perfect for transportation and storage. It’s well made with sturdy weight, especially with the addition of base attachments, granting confidence in the safety of your designs. The removable attachments can be boxed and stored for safe keeping.
