This season, fruit-inspired motifs have emerged as a playful and punchy trend permeating interior design, fashion and beyond. This joyful trend uses fruits, colors and shapes to create a lively and refreshing ambiance. In celebration of this 2024 home decor trend, our new Fruit Collection is comprised of whimsical wholesale decor including budvases, bowls, vases for centerpieces in large and small sizes and thoughtful home decor giftables. We turned to Paulina Nieliwocki, founder of New Jersey-based Blue Jasmine Floral, to design the florals for the collection’s photoshoot.

The Concept
The vision for the shoot blended aspiration and everyday function. The Fruit Collection provides artful and whimsical products ideal for floral designers, home and gift shops and trend-forward plant shops. To illustrate the collection’s wide appeal, the shoot was anchored in striking solo shots and beautiful tablescapes. Paulina, whose aesthetic and deep appreciation for whimsical and artful florals was the perfect match to bring our team’s concept into fruition (pun intended) complete with eye-catching florals and artful styling. After the shoot wrapped, we caught up with Paulina to discuss her experience and take on this fresh collection.

An Inside Look
The Fresh Fruit Collection is playful, sunny & personality packed. Please share the approach you took with the shoot. What did you aim to evoke?
Weeks ahead of the shoot, the Accent Decor team walked me through the collection’s assortment and the shoot concept. Together we discussed utilizing bright, warm colors with interesting blooms that pack a punch on their own. Ranunculus and snake balls were a natural fit! By utilizing stand-out flowers I could create designs with a pronounced use of negative space allowing the photography to feel fun, quirky and seemingly effortless.

Photo shoots are filled with collaboration. How do you collaborate with the creative, photo and social teams?
I start by creating designs aligned with the Art Director’s vision but with my own unique style applied. Once a design lands on set, I love the banter and feedback on the angles or little details I didn’t catch on my own – it’s inevitable! I enjoy the feedback and, from there, adding small nuances that garner the smile and delight from the team.

Many of the shots include fresh fruit. Any tips on utilizing fresh fruit in arrangements?
My go-to tip for using fruits in floral designs is to use a mix of whole and sliced fruit. It’s both unexpected and visually appealing!

Do you have recommendations on how to use certain fruit products differently than pictured?
There are many ways to utilize the products in ways other than what we photographed. The Banana, Watermelon and Orange Budvases could double as candleholders – a fun and unexpected tablescape addition. The Banana Bowl is substantial enough to be utilized as an orchid display planter or a succulent garden.
