In-the-know floral designers have long relied on Accent Decor for unique containers that beautifully blend artistic design with practical features. These containers cater to diverse design methods, from eco-friendly arranging to options compatible with floral foam. This season, we’re excited to introduce a new collection of eco friendly flower vases, bowls and compotes designed to further support a variety of creative preferences.
To showcase the versatility of these new wholesale vessels, we turned to floral designer Amy McCoy. During a recent photo shoot, Amy explored the collection and shared insights into her design approach plus her thoughts on the stunning new pieces she had the opportunity to work with.

Before we dive into all things vessels, tell us about yourself.
My professional journey began in speech-language pathology. However, after moving to Washington, DC, I discovered Sweet Root Village and started assisting with weddings on weekends. Fast forward to 2021, I completed an internship with Sweet Root Village and quickly dove headfirst into a part-time position. Within a month, I transitioned to a full-time role, which I held until October 2024. A personal relocation to Nashville prompted me to branch out on my own, pursuing freelance opportunities and building something new in an exciting and different city. In my down time I love exploring the outdoors and pouring over interior design, art, fashion and photography.
How have you partnered with Accent Decor?
In August 2024, I had the exciting opportunity to visit Accent Decor’s headquarters with Rachel Bridgwood from Sweet Root Village. Together, we designed the florals for the 2025 Flower Collection photoshoot. After relocating to Nashville, I found myself not too far from Accent Decor’s Atlanta location, so I joined their showroom team as an independent contractor. Since then, I’ve helped set up their showrooms in Atlanta, Las Vegas, and High Point. It’s been an incredibly fun and creative journey!

Photoshoots are a flurry of creativity and endless moving parts. What was your first experience like?
I loved every minute! The photo team is filled with such kind, talented and welcoming individuals. It was so creatively fulfilling to step into a new space, explore the new products, and freely create with the new vessels. It truly felt like a pinch-me moment to design in Accent Decor’s new vessels all while showcasing the art of floristry. Throughout the photoshoot, collaborating with the photo team was such a highlight. It was the perfect balance between their vision and the creative freedom Rachel and I had with the products and floral design. My favorite part was seeing a product come to life on camera. Florals can look so different through the lens, and it was such a fun process working with the photo team to capture the perfect series of shots.
Various products within the new 2025 Flower Collection include vessels that support eco-friendly arranging and design methods compatible with floral foam. What design methods do you prefer?
Designing with foam can certainly be easier at times—you have more control over the shape of the arrangement, the product tends to stay exactly where you place it, and it’s often quicker and less messy. However, there’s something truly natural, beautiful, and rewarding about creating an eco-friendly design. I always prefer the sustainable route and focus on non-foam arrangements, so I’m thrilled to see more products being designed with sustainability in mind.

What functional vessel features and shapes do you look for when tackling an eco-friendly arrangement?
I typically look for eco-friendly flower vases with an inner rolled lip or fluted edge, as these features help secure stabilizing mechanics like chicken wire. Depth is also key as a deeper, narrower vessel allows stems to “catch” on one another, keeping them in place without additional support. My go-to mechanics for stabilization are chicken wire or pin frogs, especially for delicate designs. It’s essential that the vessel can effectively support these materials to ensure the arrangement stays secure.

Do you have tips for creating similar looks with foam and eco-friendly techniques using the same vessel?
It’s all about layering! I like to start with greenery or larger-headed blooms to establish the base and overall shape of the arrangement. Once the foundation is set, it becomes much easier to build on the design, refining the shape with line flowers and adding delicate blooms for detail.
