Floral designers in search of versatile yet striking vessels have long relied on Accent Decor. As demand grows for unique containers that seamlessly blend artistic design with practicality, we’ve expanded our offerings to support diverse design methods including eco-friendly techniques to designs compatible with floral foam.
To highlight the versatility of our new wholesale vessels, we partnered with Rachel Bridgwood, co-founder of Sweet Root Village. She shared expert tips on designing with the Blaze Trough, a large-scale gold metal decorative trough featuring hand-applied carved lines. Her valuable tips cover a range of design styles and mechanics, offering valuable guidance for floral designers looking to create impactful arrangements.

Designing with Eco-Friendly Mechanics in the Blaze Trough
The Blaze Trough’s depth and inward lip is ideal for chicken wire or a natural grid of malleable branches and vines.
Prep Your Mechanics
With chicken wire, opt for a coated variety to prevent rust. Cut a long piece and gently fold it over itself to create 2-3 layers, forming a stable structure that holds stems in place. During a recent photoshoot, we tugged and stretched the wire upward to force it under the trough’s lip for added stability.

Build a Sturdy Base
Start by inserting your heaviest stems, such as hydrangea or foliage with lateral pieces, into the grid to build a strong base. This foundational layer helps secure taller stems and focal blooms, ensuring they stay in place as you continue to design or transport the finished arrangement.

Leveraging Floral Foam in the Blaze Trough
Ensure Proper Hydration
When using floral foam, leave ample space around it for standing water to keep stems hydrated for as long as possible. Regularly check and replenish water levels to maintain freshness.

Consider Weight and Stability
Floral foam adds considerable weight to an arrangement, which can be beneficial for stability if the piece will be moved frequently. Its firm structure ensures that stems stay securely in place throughout transport and display.
